A lecture by Margaret Boyle, Professor of Romance Languages & Literatures and Latin American, Caribbean & Latinx Studies at Bowdoin College.

Prof. Boyle will present stories from Sabor Judío: The Jewish Mexican Cookbook, co-authored with Ilan Stavans, and published by the Ferris & Ferris imprint at the University of North Carolina Press (2024).  The book demonstrates how cooking and eating connect Jewish Mexicans across place and time, providing readers with a vivid history of Jewish immigration to Mexico from 1492 to the present. “An instant classic and more than a cookbook—it is a critical portrait of a community”, according to Michael Twitty, author of Koshersoul (2022).
