Virtual Library Advocacy Day

If you love a book, you probably love a library. Do something to help keep public libraries around.

Today more than a thousand librarians and library advocates headed to Washington, D.C., for their annual library lobby day. On the agenda for their discussions with their representatives is the request for funding the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) at $300 million for FY 2011. The LSTA is the only shot at federal funding that public libraries get. In recent weeks we’ve watched as libraries across the pond faced serious funding threats. Want to defend your county library? Participate in Virtual Library Advocacy Day by calling or emailing your elected officials. The Association for Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends, and Foundations offers talking tips and contact info.
