Announcing new e-book series from UNC Press
“At UNC Press, we pride ourselves on publishing campaign studies that take into account the larger contexts in which Civil War battles were fought. But as we developed our program of E-book Shorts, we were pleased to discover within those longer works tightly written narratives of the battles themselves that work very well as standalone books,” said UNC Press Civil War editor David Perry, who worked with the authors on the original publication of the full books.
These Civil War E-book Shorts, priced from $2.99 to $9.99, are part of a larger UNC Press initiative to bring Shorts of other UNC Press books out in other disciplines, including American history, African American history, religious studies, and more. Additional UNC Press E-book Shorts will be issued in the coming months.
We are also packaging some of our best-selling books into Omnibus e-books, collecting several titles into one e-book product, at a special price.
“We have been positioning ourselves aggressively in recent years for the rising interest in e-books and, more generally, in new modes of publication,” said Mark Simpson-Vos, UNC Press Editorial Director. “Given the rapid shifts in readers’ preferences, we’ve worked hard to remain nimble and to deliver our authors’ content in as many forms as possible. Our E-book Shorts and Omnibus e-book programs are prime examples. We’re in the business of bringing added value to our readers and to our authors, and in a crowded marketplace, we think it’s important as a university press to be offering our best content in creative ways that can help cut through the noise.”
UNC Press Civil War Shorts and Omnibus e-books are available from Amazon.com for the Kindle e-book reader, at BarnesandNoble.com for the Nook reader, and at Sony’s ebookstore.sony.com.
