The catalog cover image comes from the book Colors of Confinement: Rare Kodachrome Photographs of Japanese American Incarceration in World War II, edited by Eric L. Muller, with photographs by Bill Manbo. Available in August 2012, the book collects 65 never-before-seen color images of life at Heart Mountain Relocation Center in 1942 Wyoming, presented along with three interpretive essays by leading scholars and a reflective, personal essay by a former Heart Mountain internee. It is part of the series Documentary Arts and Culture, published in association with the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, and has received advanced praise from George Takei, former internee Norman Mineta, and Lane Ryo Hirabayashi.
Please take a moment to look through the catalog. We’ve got new books in Civil War, American history, religious studies, environmental studies, Native American & Indigenous studies, gender studies, biography, literary studies, American studies, legal studies, African American studies, Latin American studies, art & architecture, science & medicine, and cookbooks. It’s a great fall lineup, and I’m looking forward to exploring these books with you here on the blog in the months ahead.
cheers,
ellen
