2023 Association for the Study of African American Life & History Annual Meeting
We regret to share the news that the University of North Carolina Press is no longer able to attend the Association for the Study of African American Life and History 2023 annual meeting in Jacksonville, Florida. While we remain deeply committed to the organization and the work that our authors and so many scholars are doing in the discipline, we find ourselves in a situation where staff plans to attend the conference have been impacted by external events, including the recent shooting on the UNC campus. We are coordinating with the Association and our authors to continue to support any and all book promotion, and we will be using all the virtual and media resources at our disposal to minimize disruption. We also hope that you will attend the ASALH Author Book signing that will take place on Thursday, September 21 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, which will feature many of our authors. Although UNC Press will not be attending the ASALH annual meeting in-person this year, you can still visit our virtual booth to browse our recent titles. Editors Andrew Winters and Dawn Durante are eager for ASALH members to be in touch with them about book projects for potential publication with UNC Press. Our commitment to advancing the field of African American history remains steadfast, and we look forward to reconnecting with the organization, our authors, and all attendees in the future.
