We’ve got lots going on around here! Here’s a quick roundup of ways in which UNC Press books are making waves right now. . . .

Patrick Huber’s Linthead Stomp: The Creation of Country Music in the Piedmont South has just earned a starred review from Publishers Weekly. The review states, “With respect and passion, Huber puts these pioneering artists in well-deserved perspective, gracefully illuminating the birth of an American art form.”

Barbara Duncan (editor of The Origin of the Milky Way and Other Living Stories of the Cherokee) was recently interviewed by D. G. Martin on WCHL. The podcast is available at WCHL’s website (look for the November 19 episode of “Who’s Talking”).

Mike Walden, author of North Carolina in the Connected Age, will talk to William Friday this weekend on North Carolina People, airing on UNCTV Friday (12/12) at 9 pm and Sunday (12/14) at 5:30 pm. If you can’t catch those airtimes, the podcast will be archived here.

Stan Ulanski, author of The Gulf Stream: Tiny Plankton, Giant Bluefin, and the Amazing Story of the Powerful River in the Atlantic, has an interview airing on “Living on Earth” this week. You can read the transcript and download the podcast at the Living On Earth website.

Keep listening, keep reading!

Oh, and share a book. As Diane Neer reminds us, you never know when putting a book in someone’s hand just might make all the difference in the world.
