Weekend Roadtrip #10: Lexington Barbecue Festival

This weekend is the 25th annual Lexington Barbecue Festival!  Hit the road and head on down to Lexington, North Carolina, “the barbecue capital of the world,” for food, fun, and entertainment. Exhibits open at 8:30 a.m. Barbecue tents open at 10:00 a.m.

Our very own Will McKinney, coauthor of Holy Smoke: The Big Book of North Carolina Barbecue, will be there with a big stack of books to sell and sign. Pick up a copy of the book and you can find out about other legendary ‘cue joints to stop by on the drive home!

  1. I looked for Will McKinney but never found him at the festival. Bummer. It was rainy when I was there and hard to navigate around. The book – Holy Smoke – is terrific. I’m enjoying reading all the stories.

  2. I was there looking for him and couldn’t find him either, Cyndi! So sorry! I’ll have to do some investigating when I get back to the office on Monday and find out what the story was. Glad you’re enjoying the book…

  3. Aha. Will was safe and dry in front of Pandora’s Books on 2nd Ave., just off the main drag where you and I were probably scouting. I’m sorry I didn’t get the full details to post beforehand. Lesson learned.

Lots of folks managed to find their way there, however. Will reports he had a great time and met some wonderful people who were excited to see the book.
