Online book buzz: the food’s the thing
Before the week gets away from me, I wanted to be able to share some more of the online buzz UNC Press books have gotten lately. It’s all about FOOD . . .
- Nancy Carter Crump’s Hearthside Cooking: Early American Southern Cuisine Updated for Today’s Hearth and Cookstove is hitting bookstores now. Get an early taste over at Gherkins and Tomatoes and try out the recipe for Mrs. Cringan’s Sweet Potatoes Baked with Wine (directions for both hearth and cookstove included!).
- Mama Dip’s restaurant is a longtime favorite of Diane Daniel (whose book on NC farms we’ll be publishing in 2011, by the way). Diane writes in a blog post this week that Dip’s Chicken Pudding is one of her family favorites. You can find the recipe in Mama Dip’s Kitchen.
- Holy Smoke: The Big Book of North Carolina Barbecue, by John Shelton Reed, Dale Volberg Reed, and Will McKinney, is kicking up quite a storm. Al Forno Charleston sings its praises as “an all-around fun book.”
